A Competition for a Gate
Harvard University
Cambridge, MA

The Harvard Architectural Review, a publication of the Harvard Graduate School of Design, hosted a competition for the design of a new gate for Harvard Yard, to be located at the intersection of Quincy Street and Harvard Street, in Harvard Square. The purpose of the new gate was to herald the entrance to Quincy Street, and its seventeen architecturally significant buildings situated along its length.

This proposal for a new Harvard gate is an observation about architects and competition. It is a gate that is a start, a finish, entrance, exit, and a competition.
