Collins Café was created on the ground level of the award- winning Davis Museum and Cultural Center by Raphael Moneo. The  purpose of the café renovation was to bring together museum visitors, Collins Cinema patrons, Wellesley College students and faculty at this Cultural Center.  Working  with Moneo’s former associate, William Sloan Associates     created a kitchen, service, and seating area to serve a sophisticated menu in a casual setting, while maintaining the building’s intended aesthetic. This included careful detailing of the custom display-cases and serving area, as well as the banquets along the café’s angled wall.  While doing so, the cafe’s accoustics were also improved to enable its use simultaneously with events in the adjacent Collins Cinema through a new stretch fabric ceiling and acoustical doors.
