Built in 1928, the 70’ Bell Tower of the FIrst Baptist Church of WInchester is the subject of a comprehensive evaluation and repair study prepared by William Sloan Associates. Working with roofing, water proofing and masonry subcontractors, dismantling key components of the structure and inspecting the full height of the exterior envelope, the study addresses a variety of elements, including: examination of granite, brick and pre-cast masonry; testing and inspection of joints, mortar and construction methods; imbedded flashing and water proofing details; roofing membrane structural membrane and their integrity, in oder to determine sources of moisture penetration and envelope deterioration. The study makes recommendations for repair, envelope and interior requirements and cost estimates and schedules for implementation.
